Krista is the founding Attorney of Krista A. Downey, P.A. Krista focuses her practice on estate planning, estate and trust administration and related real estate and corporate matters. Krista has extensive experience working with clients to develop an estate plan that meets their individual needs and expectations. In formalizing estate plans, Krista prepares wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, health care surrogate designations, living wills, business succession plans and other documents tailored specifically to the client’s objectives.
Krista also represents Personal Representatives, Trustees and Beneficiaries in probate, trust and guardianship administration and litigation. Krista advises clients serving as fiduciaries on their legal obligations and counsels them to avoid litigation and manage risk. Krista prepares the required legal notifications to creditors and beneficiaries, inventories and accountings. Krista also separately represents beneficiaries advising them of the rights regarding their inheritance. Krista can seamlessly represent clients throughout the state of Florida in these matters thanks to advances in technology.
Krista also provides legal counsel to buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. Krista has experience in a broad range of real estate transactions and can advise clients through all stages of the transaction from the negotiation of the initial contract through closing. Krista is also able to serve as the closing agent and issue title insurance in connection with the sale of real estate.
Krista is also experienced in charitable organization and private foundation management, including, but not limited to, preparation and review of organizational, governing and financial documents, bylaws and conflict of interest policies. Krista provides advice regarding non-profit board duties, governance and charitable solicitation compliance.
Prior to founding Krista A. Downey, P.A., Krista practiced at a well-known boutique law firm on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. Krista’s background experience also includes completing a fellowship and internship at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and an internship with the Probate Division of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
As a Palm Beach County native, Krista is active in the local community holding leadership positions with a number of professional and charitable organizations such as the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, Palm Beach Heartball, Palm Beach Historical Society, University of Miami School of Law National Alumni Council and the University of Florida Advisor Network.
Krista is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and the University of Florida and is admitted to practice in the State of Florida.
